Kyrie Irving Provides Context For His Stunning ‘Earth Is Flat’ Comment

Cleveland Cavaliers point guard Kyrie Irving continues to make headlines for his February 16 comments about believing the Earth is flat.

“This is not even a conspiracy theory,” Irving, 24, said during a podcast interview on February 16. “The Earth is flat… I’m telling you, it’s right in front of our faces. They lie to us.”

Irving has relayed his astonishment at the attention his comment has received, opening up a larger conversation about what is considered “news” in our society.

“We could ask relevant questions like, ‘What’s going on with the world, like what’s really going on?’” he told USA Today in a follow-up interview. “Or what I really believe or who I really am. That’d be nice.”
