Holly Madison says life at the Playboy Mansion may have looked charmed, but it was anything but when the cameras left.

“It was so confining,” Madison, 36, told People Magazine. “It was a place where you’re made to feel like as a woman, your value decreases as you age. And it decreases if you have something to say.”

These revelations, and much more, come in Madison’s second memoir, The Vegas Diaries. In the book, she also characterizes Hugh Hefner as a “drama queen.”

“I really started seeing his true colors and I couldn’t make excuses anymore,” Madison writes of her decision to move out in 2008. “I had to get out of there.”
