In a stunning interview with Britain’s Independent, director John Carney revealed that his experience working with Keira Knightly in the 2013 movie Begin Again is the reason he will never direct a high-profile film again.
“I don’t want to rubbish Keira, but you know it’s hard being a film actor,” Carney said. “It requires a certain level of honesty and self-analysis that I don’t think she’s ready for yet and I certainly don’t think she was ready for on that film.”
Carney went on to say he will never work with “super models” again, and will only work with “proper film actors as opposed to movie stars.”
