Jada Pinkett Smith to Boycott Oscars

Jada Pinkett Smith announced that she will be boycotting the 88th Academy Awards because of the lack of diversity in the nominations.

She shared the news via Facebook video. She also posted a series of tweets beforehand expressing her concerns.

“I can’t help but ask the question: Is it time that people of color recognize how much power [and] influence we have amassed that we no longer need to ask to be invited anywhere?” she said in the video.
