It seems Nick Viall may be the most popular Bachelor ever.

An insider working on ABC’s long-running romance reality show says producers were thrown for a loop when Viall was announced as this season’s star, and a huge increase in applications forced them to choose thirty women to compete for the Wisconsin native’s heart, rather than the usual twenty-five.

“There was definitely a spike in applications when Nick was announced,” the source reports. “About twice as many women applied to Nick’s season versus other seasons.”

The insider says there was also a concerted effort to add more diversity to Viall’s season, as he is said to love “all types of women.”
