Elizabeth Banks made her wildly successful directorial debut in Pitch Perfect 2, but busy mom of two has announced she will not assume the director’s chair for the third installment of the popular musical series.

“We feel obligated to put out the best movie… We want to give the audience what it wants but not making it repetitive,” Banks said on June 4. “We have been in development and it took longer than we thought. I can’t shoot it in the fall because it butts up against our kids’ stuff in a way that I wasn’t comfortable with.”

Banks says she will remain on board as a producer.
